First I must explain why the rest of the Web site is password protected and how you, a descendant of the Hon. J.D.Ormond or their immediate family, or perhaps just someone interested in family reunions and family histories, can easily get the password.
As I expect you know, many of us get a great deal of unwanted e-mail — sent to our e-mail addresses without our knowledge or permission. Unscrupulous people trawl the Internet, gleaning e-mails from any Web page they can access automatically. They then sell the addresses to advertisers, and hence you get spam.
We have already had spam sent to the organisers' e-mail address — in fact only about 1% of the e-mails to that address are legitimate.
I plan to keep e-mail addresses off the home page and other pages directly accessible without a password. But contact names, addressses, phone numbers and above all e-mail addresses are the lifeblood of any reunion Web site so, to avoid many of you getting even more spam — unwanted and unsolicited e-mail — all of us are going to login to the site using the same name and password. We've been using that name and password for the last few months and so many of you will know it already, and may even have set your browser to remember it for you.
The user name, or user id as it's sometimes called, is ormond — one word, all lower case letters. If you don't yet know the password then drop the organisers a line, send us an e-mail, or leave a phone message telling us who you are or why you'ld like access to the site.
Please leave a voicemail on +64-6-879-9065 or send a fax to +64-6-879-9064 during New Zealand daylight hours. Now the catch–22. What is the organisers' e-mail address? Here it is as a picture, to foil the spammers:
Using this password is not the same as registering; you need to register to let us know you're coming and make appropriate plans for food and entertainment, to contribute your genealogy information, and so that we can contact you with information specifically for you.
So, as the title of this page says, get the password and "Come on In".
